Solar Farm – Parish Council objects to planning application

The proposal for a large solar farm in Rode was debated at length at the December Parish Council meeting. After nearly an hour and a half of discussion, the Parish Council unanimously decided to object to the application. There were many reasons for reaching this decision, which reflect the views of local residents (as set out in the various responses to the planning application). The PC will be writing to Somerset Council in the next few days, setting out the reasons for its objection.

If you have not yet submitted your own comments to Somerset Council (whether for or against the application) there is still time (the deadline for local residents is 21st December), and the Parish Council would encourage residents to do so. Full details of the planning application are available on the Somerset Council website: https://publicaccess.mendip.gov.uk/online-applications/applicationDetails.do?activeTab=summary&keyVal=S3WYXFKPIAO00

Or go to the “View and Comment on a Planning Application” section, select “Mendip”, then “Find an Application” – the application number is 2023/2183/FUL:https://www.somerset.gov.uk/planning-buildings-and-land/view-and-comment-on-a-planning-application/?district=Mendip

You can comment on the application via the above weblink, or send an email to: planningeast@somerset.gov.uk
